Diagnosed: Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) Ethnicity: African American
Jennifer Jones Austin is 41, a wife and mother of two children, ages 12 and 7. She is suffering from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), and is in an immediate need of a bone marrow transplant.
Without a bone marrow transplant, doctors have indicated that her chances of survival are small. A bone marrow transplant requires a 100% compatible match. Because none of her siblings were a match, her best chance of finding a match is someone of African American descent. Jennifer’s family and friends are hoping that more people register as potential marrow donors to help her and others.
