Hyun Soo Lee

Diagnosed Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, 1999
Ethnicity: Korean
Location: New York, NY

Update: Sadly Mr. Hyun So Lee passed away in Spring 2002 after battling Leukemia for more than 2 years.

Hyun Soo Lee is a 45 year old man, father of three and a business owner in the heart of Koreatown in New York City. In November of 1999 he was feeling excessively tired and had low blood pressure, so he went to the doctor for a checkup. He found out then he had Acute Biphnotypic Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

Mr. Lee began chemotherapy a few weeks after and so far, the treatment has been working well. With AML, though, chemotherapy may work for a duration, but at some point in the future, Mr. Lee will need a transplant. Mr. Lee and his family has been actively searching for a donor by telling his story to the press and giving interviews to television stations.

Mr. Lee is in remission and has returned home from the hospital. In September of 2000, he has been able to leave the house and visit his business office.
