Raised in Southern California, Sonteree Simms graduated from UC Riverside with a B.A. in Business Economics. However, her passion for dancing led her to choose a different career path. She danced in various stage shows at Disneyland for five years before moving on to dance on three different Holland America cruise ships. On her last cruise ship contract, she found and fell in love with Michael.

Unfortunately, Soontaree was diagnosed with A.M.L. (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) in June 2006. She immediately began her search for a potential donor, but her search has not led to any matches yet. Soontaree is of Thai descent, and her HLA type is unique. Her family has been working tirelessly to help her find a match. She was told that she would most likely not be able to have children because of chemotherapy, but she and her husband still dream of adopting children of their own. Both Soontaree and Michael still have so many dreams to accomplish and will never take life for granted.
